Description

Originally built as a U.S. Navy launch in 1984, it had to be able to withstand complete swamping for 12 hours without sinking! A steel beam was built into the hull so it could be attached at two lifting points to cranes on board a mother ship so it could be lifted onto the deck. The net effect is a very stiff hull. When our knowledegable owner converted this vessel into a Tri Cabin Trawler in 2001, he made it tough enough to withstand the extreme Alaskan conditions. For instance, he added a heavy steel rudder shoe for protection against rocks, logs and grounding. The owner turns is a well known author on things Alaskan, especially about walrus. For around seven weeks every year he brings paying guests on tours to the Alaskan wilderness to see the walrus and other wildlife. Tour business is available for an extra $20,000. Income of around $50,000. is typical in the normal season.   mm
